Meet Brendan Pitman
Overview
Brendan is an experienced strata dispute and commercial litigation lawyer.
He has represented clients in mediations and conferences, appears in Federal and Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian Courts and Tribunals, and represents bodies corporate, lot owners, and caretakers in the Office of the Commissioner of Body Corporate and Community Management.
Brendan is passionate about the strata industry. His focus is on adding value by delivering considered advice with practical solutions.

Brendan has advised bodies corporate, lot owners and caretakers on exclusive use areas, bylaw enforcement, building management statements, debt recovery, utility infrastructure, maintenance responsibilities, accessing records, claims of privilege, policies of insurance, retaining walls and fences, enforcement of adjudicator orders, committee and general meeting issues, occupation authorities, fair work claims, termination matters, and many more.
Brendan has been engaged in numerous disputes about caretaking agreements by the caretaker, letting agent, building manager or body corporate, across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Those disputes require careful analysis of the terms of the agreement, the circumstances surrounding the events, compliance with any applicable regulations and the strategic selection of remedies to pursue.
Commercial Litigation
Brendan has represented individuals, companies, partners, bodies corporate and caretakers in matters involving defamation claims, leasing disputes and make good claims, misleading and deceptive conduct, partnership disputes, electricity disputes, appointment of a liquidator and receiver, debt disputes, costs assessments, and many more.
Brendan has conducted negotiations and settlements of these disputes and has also advised clients in more formal mediation conferences involving not just the disputing parties but impartial mediators. Brendan’s dispute resolutions skills extend over the entirety of the pre-litigation stage up to the commencement of court proceedings through to a trial.
Recognition
Brendan was awarded a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Business Management from University of Queensland in 2014, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology in 2015, and a Master of Laws in 2020 from University of Queensland.
Brendan became a member of the management committee of Research and Policy House in 2020, corporate nominee member of Strata Community Association (Qld) and member of the Australian College of Strata Lawyers, in 2021.
