Meet Joel Dixon
Overview
Joel is an associate at Small Myers Hughes working predominately in the business and property law teams. Joel was admitted as a solicitor in 2019 and was working for a Brisbane based law firm before joining the team at Small Myers Hughes in 2020. As a member of the business and property law teams, Joel is always looking to provide clients with practical and effective strategies to assist with their legal issues or to achieve their goals.
Area of Expertise
Joel is experienced in dealing with a broad range of areas regarding business and property law across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria including:
- Property development including the preparation and review of off the plan sales contracts and subdivision preparation and registration.
- Commercial property transactions.
- Franchising.
- The sale and purchase of businesses including motels, caravan parks and resorts.
- Liquor and gaming licensing.
- Various company related transactions such as share acquisitions, shareholder’s agreements and employee share schemes.
- Partnership law including the drafting of partnership agreements.
- Trust law and the drafting of trust deeds and unit holder’s agreements.
- Commercial and retail leasing.
- Lending and borrowing including the drafting of loans, mortgages, guarantee and indemnities, security deeds and PPSR instruments.
- Preparation of supply and manufacturing agreements for various industries.
Recognition
Joel was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2019. Joel holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Planning) from Griffith University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology.
